Domain name curiosities

4 May 2007  |  Published in ICANN, Internet, Real life

The Eurid annual report points out some funny domain names in the .eu TLD.

There is this Welsh village: llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogochuchaf.eu, which actually means: Saint Mary’s Church in the hollow of the white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of St. Tysilio of the red cave.

And registered by a German guy: thisisthelongesteuropeandomainnameallovertheworldandnowitismine.eu
(This is the longest European domain name all over the world and now it is mine). Well OK, it’s yours. Have fun with it.
