According to this article in Time magazine, Linus Torvalds is part of the 18 “rebels and leaders” heroes of the last 60 years. Being next to Nelson Mandela, Yitshak Rabin, Jean Monnet, Václav Havel, Lech Walesa or Charles de Gaulle is indeed flattering.
The article points out that “Torvalds’ parents were student radicals in the 1960s and his father, a communist, even spent a year studying in Moscow. But it’s their son who has turned out to be the real revolutionary”. It is all in the genes, you know.
